Champions League Matchday 1- Results

You Will Never Walk Alone 2005

The defending champions Liverpool managed to hold-on for a good away win over Real Betis with a score of 2-1. Tuesday night witnessed a heavy defeat for Madrid in France, after Lyon managed to outclass the Spaniards to win 3-0. Chelsea also managed to win at home with a Lampard goal. Rangers fought hard and earned all 3 points as they beat Porto in Scotland. AC Milan took it late with two strikes in the last 4 minutes to win 3-1.
In Wednesday's action, Arsenal was pushed to the limit by newcomers FC Thun who put on a great displayed an lost by a late Bergkamp goal. Ten-man Man. Utd. managed to hang-on for a point after a nil-nil stalemate in Spain. Also, Ajax tied Sparta Prague late for a 1-1 result, Benfica scored its winner over Lille late in injury time, and Iaquinta scored this first hatrick in the competition this season to lead his club Udinese to a deserved 3-0 win over Panathinaikos.
