Reds Kings of Europe for a Fifth Time
After a thrilling final that witnessed one of the greatest comebacks in football history, Liverpool have again regained their place amongst Europe's elite. AC Milan put the cup in the bag and were ready to fly to Italy after going three goals up in the first half. However, Liverpool and Stevie had other thoughts. Nine minutes into the 2nd half, Stevie headed in a goal and inspired the lads to play for all the marbles like they can. Smicer and Alonso responded with two strikes within five minutes to shock Milan, and the football universe. Further, it is ironic that Liverpool's cup ambitions had to go through a penalty shoot-out. After a bad season in penalty kicks that ended with Stevie announcing that he will never take a spot kick again, the lads had to perform. Their great performance was rewarded when Sheva of all people had his kick saved by the heroic Jerzy. This capped the fate of LFC. This was their championship to win, and we have won it. Today is the day the cup was won. Welcome to Anfield.

English Premier League Final Week
Sunday marked the conclusion of the 2004/2005 English Premier League season. After 38 weeks of intense battle, Chelsea were crowned champions, while Southampton, Norwich, and Crystal Palace said farewell to the top-flight. West Bromwich Albion pulled off a miracle to avoid relegation after beating Portsmouth, and lifiting its rank from dead and buried to Premier League survivors. Chelsea and Arsenal qualify automtically for next season's Champions League, while Manchester United and Everton head to the qualifying round for the same tournament. A dramatic game at the City of Manchester Stadium ended with Middlesbrough securing a UEFA Cup spot, after Robbie Fowler missed a penalty that would have taken Manchester City to that same tournament. Liverpool and Bolton will also join 'brough in the UEFA Cup, unless UEFA decide to place Liverpool in the Champions League if they win this year's tournament. Lots of drama! Sunderland, Wigan, and a team yet-to-be-determined will be joining the Premier League for next season. After the conclusion of this season, the EPL Prediction Index (EPLPI) stands at 31 correct and 60 incorrect since March 19, 2005.
